The female orgasm is about as elusive as Big Foot these days. Sure there are dozens of sex toys, and masturbation tips and tricks that you can try out, but no amount of toys could ever replace actual human touch (at least not yet anyways). Unfortunately, a recent study revealed that straight women are having the least amount of orgasms, all because their partners are incompetent. But there may just be a small group of outliers amongst the rest of these men— those with a sense of humor. According to a new study, funny men are the ones you should be sleeping with, if you want to have an orgasm that is.

Study. A study was done at the University of Albany that analyzed the data collected from a survey involving female undergrad students who attended the university. The researchers asked them questions about their relationships, sexual preferences, and general feelings toward their partners.

Research. After studying the data, the researchers came to this one conclusion— that funny men are better in bed. This was based on how frequently the women in the study reported having an orgasm with their partners, and the personality traits of the partners themselves, which included income, personality, sense of humor, and looks, reports the Sun UK.

Humor. “Their partner's sense of humor … predicted women's propensity to initiate sex, how often they had sex, and it enhanced their orgasm frequency in comparison with other partners. Those in relationships with more humorous partners reported he was more popular, intelligent, a better leader and more creative. Participants with humorous partners reported initiating sex more often, and having more frequent intercourse in general,” said the study’s authors, as reported by the Chicago Tribune.
Other traits. Not only that, but women who were physically attracted to their partners also reported more orgasms (shocking). A man’s shoulder width was also a big turn on amongst women, as well as men who were rich, confident, and in good shape, reports the Sun UK.

Intensity. “Orgasm intensity was related to how attracted (women) were to their partners, how many times they had sex per week and ratings of sexual satisfaction. Those with partners who their friends rated as more attractive also tended to have more intense orgasms,” continued the researchers.

Evolution. So why exactly do women find fit and attractive men more attractive (aside from the obvious)? It all has to do with evolution. Women see men who are strong and in shape as men who would one day be able to breed more “successful” kids.
Makes sense. Psychologists seemed to agree with the study’s findings, saying from a psychological standpoint, it makes perfect sense that someone would choose a person that can make them laugh as a partner as opposed to someone who doesn’t. Who doesn’t want to be laughing while receiving multiple orgasms on a regular basis?

Sexy. ”Humor is sexy. People with a great sense of humor are attractive as mates and enjoy better mating success. This is true especially for men who use humor to attract mates, as humor is one of the most desired traits by women when choosing a mate,” said psychologist Gil Greengross, as reported by the Chicago Tribune.

Humor. But don’t worry men, this doesn’t mean you all have to go out and take an improv class or two in order to get a date. Humor is subjective, and there might just be someone out there who enjoys your dry sense of humor and lack of bedroom skills. Maybe. Just maybe.
Compatibility. And speaking of humor and dating, did you know that there are nine different types of humor? According to the CEO of eHarmony, your humor compatibility with another person might just be what can help find you your next date.

Humor matters. “Human beings think sense of humor matters. We're trying to find out if it does matter. We're trying to type people for humor,” CEO Grant Langston told Business Insider. eHarmony is currently looking to add humor compatibility into their matchmaking profiles to see whether or not this will help people find dates a lot easier.

Sense of humor. Langston points out that not everyone has the same sense of humor, and even though you might think your fart jokes are funny, chances are your date won’t. But good news! eHarmony is here to help you find that one person who will laugh at every single fart joke you’ve got.
Videos. The company is still in the process of testing out this new feature, but according to Business Insider, it will prompt users to watch a few 30 second clips which include internet pranks, stand up comedy, and sketches. After watching each video, you rate them on a scale of one to five.

Match. “At this point, it seems very likely that it will be an important way to match people. You have to ask yourself, Does it correlate to better relationships?" said Langston, as reported by Business Insider.

You. Is humor an important quality for a potential partner to have? Why or why not? Let us know what you think of this study’s findings!
