Question:Allright I just bought a laptop from Circuit City. It's an Acer BTP-44A3 Battery Notebook. Pretty new, it came right off the shelf. One problem I'm seeing is that I charged the brand new battery and the little lightning bolt charge light went off, so I assumed it was finished charging. And when I loaded it up and checked the Acer BTP-550P Battery icon in the system tray, it was at 96% which was good enough for me. But I used it for probably a total of 15 minutes and the battery was around 80% already. Is that normal for Acer BTP-73E1 Battery or did I not charge it properly?
Answer:Depends how you use the laptop. I use mine at home, never take it out, and for that I just keep the AC plugged in and take the battery out (after discharging theAcer BATCL50L Battery completely). If I need to take the computer somewhere, I just re-charge the battery.
Anyway, yes, it's normal for the battery to discharge a little every time you turn the thing on and off. TheAcer TravelMate 290 Battery icon will show for a while and then go away and it will show the AC. You can also make sure that the thing uses AC instead of battery (if you keep the battery always in the computer) even when you're using AC, by specifying AV power only (I can't remember where I once set this on my HP laptop).
